Appropriate for all levels of painting experience.
Students will create a beautifully painted gourd using a technique of dotting with paint. The style is influenced by Australian aboriginal art called dream-time or dream dot painting. The painting will take place on a prepared gourd, using designs of the students choosing. The technique of dotting will be explained and demonstrated using acrylic paints. Students will be encouraged to use their imagination with their color choices. Use of coordinating and contrasting colors will be explained. Detailed instructions, including design suggestions will be handed out in class. Students should be able to complete their project during class.
